Teresa McGinley is currently employed as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. Teresa works in the Pediatric Specialty Clinic with patients undergoing treatment for various chronic illnesses and in Diagnostic Imaging, providing services to families during examinations and procedures using fluoroscopy, CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound. Prior to her work at Yale-New Haven, Teresa pursued a Master of Arts in Child Development with a concentration in Clinical Developmental Health and Psychology at Tufts University in the Eliot Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development. Teresa completed her undergraduate degree at Stonehill College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish. Teresa’s special interests include peer mentorship in chronic populations and bereavement support. Most recently, Teresa has launched research to demonstrate how Child Life procedural preparation and support can decrease patient and family stress and anxiety, which in turn decreases the amount of sedatives/anesthetics that must be administered to pediatric patients completing diagnostic imaging studies.
